Youth taking action in Southern Highland

Deep in the heart of Songwe, a Southern Highland region in Tanzania, a great undertaking by the youth is brewing. With the help of Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung – HRNS Tanzania field staff, Nampimbi youth club members have just completed the construction of a coffee nursery, which will house more than forty thousand seedlings to be sold to the local smallholder farmers in the surrounding areas.
This initiative by the Nampimbi youth will serve as an additional income stream towards the groups finances, bringing them closer to financial independence and sustainable growth. By establishing this coffee nursery, the youth can generate revenue from seedling sales, reinvesting profits to expand their activities and uplift their community.
” We hope to start sales early next year. We will take advantage of the local farmers who are in need of seedlings as our local market.”
Msauye Haonga, Nampimbi chairperson
